    KANSAS CITY, MO — A wave of shock and grief swept through Kansas City in the early morning hours after a violent overnight shooting claimed the life of one man and left two others, including a teenager, wounded. According to the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD), officers responded to the scene of the shooting shortly after midnight following reports of gunfire near the 3500 block of East 58th Street.

    Upon arrival, police discovered a chaotic and devastating scene. One adult male was found unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin.

    Two additional victims—a man believed to be in his early twenties and a teenager whose exact age has not been disclosed—were also found with gunshot injuries. Both were transported to a nearby hospital. The older man is reportedly in stable condition, while the teenager’s injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening.

    The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, but authorities believe that an altercation may have escalated into gunfire. As of now, no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made. Detectives and forensic teams worked throughout the early hours collecting evidence and canvassing the area for surveillance footage and witnesses.

    GEORGETOWN, SC – The Georgetown Police Department has announced the arrest of a 17-year-old male in connection with a recent shooting that rocked a quiet neighborhood on Prince Street. The incident occurred on the evening of July 17, 2025, in the 2500 block of Prince Street and prompted an immediate and intensive investigation by local authorities.

    According to police officials, officers were dispatched to the scene following multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers found shell casings scattered along the roadway and discovered a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

    The swift response by law enforcement and cooperation from members of the community allowed investigators to quickly piece together crucial details surrounding the shooting. Through a combination of eyewitness statements, surveillance footage, and forensic evidence, police were able to identify the suspect as a 17-year-old male resident of Georgetown. Due to his age, his name has not been publicly released.

    On the morning of July 18, Georgetown Police officers, with support from the Waccamaw Task Force, took the suspect into custody without incident.     Livermore – James H. (Smith) Kachnovich, 81, of Livermore, passed away Wednesday, July 16th at Marshwood Center in Lewiston, surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 30, 1943, in Chelsea, Massachusetts, the son of James and Marion (Kachnovich) Smith. He was a 1962 graduate of Waterville High School and proudly won the State Football Championship his Senior year. He served in the National Guard from 1966 to 1972. He furthered his education at Maine Maritime, then graduated from Paul Smith’s College in New York, earning a degree in Forestry. In 1969 he began his career in forestry working for the International Paper Company, eventually moving to the power plant as the power plant control room operator at the Androscoggin Mill in Jay. He was also a licensed professional land surveyor from 1976 to the present and helped form Kachnovich Land Surveying, Inc with his son, Toby. In 1970, he married Marilyn Simpson, and had two sons, Timothy and Toby Kachnovich. They divorced in 1990. James later married Deborah A. Lane in 2000. James served on the Jay planning board for over 30 years, he was a member of the International Paper Company Quarter Century Club, Amvets Post 33 in Jay, George Bunton American Legion Post 10 in Livermore Falls, Maine Society of Land Surveyors, Lithuanian Heritage Club in Rumford and Wilton Fish and Game. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, going to camp on Pleasant Pond in Caratunk, hunting, fishing, gardening, and loved working on his wood pile. He is survived by his wife, Deborah Kachnovich of Livermore, sons, Timothy Kachnovich and wife Jessica of Livermore, and Toby Kachnovich and wife Jennifer of Jay, two bonus children, Courtney Chasse and husband Bruce of Madawaska, and Owen Keene of Lewiston, grandchildren, Tyler and his wife, Renae, Ainsley, Aubrey, and Alaina, bonus grandchildren, Kobe, Mason and Samantha Chasse, and his nephew, Peter Hitchcock and wife Joyce of Rutland, Massachusetts. Known affectionately as “Mam” by many, she embodied everything that was good and true about family and community.     With profound sorrow and enduring pride, we remember and honor the life and service of Mark Dunleavy, Blue Angels pilot #3, #4, and #2 from 1997 to 1999. The world of naval aviation, and indeed the entire Blue Angels family, has lost one of its very best.

    Mark was not just a pilot. He was a leader, a mentor, a force of nature in the air, and a warm, uplifting presence on the ground. Trained and molded by legends Scooter Moyer and Kato Cooke, Mark carried forward their legacy with unparalleled grace and skill. Those who had the honor to fly with him knew immediately: he was born for this. With sharp instincts, precision flying, and a commanding presence, he made everything look effortless—even the impossible.

    Over his distinguished three-year tenure on the team, Mark flew three of the four Diamond positions, an extraordinary achievement that speaks volumes about both his talent and the confidence his teammates placed in him. Whether he was flying in the #3 (Right Wing), #4 (Slot), or #2 (Left Wing) positions, Mark brought razor-sharp focus and unbreakable trust to every formation. He would have flown #1—the Lead—if only he’d been given the chance. Many of us would’ve followed him without hesitation.

    As Slot Pilot and Training Officer during the 1998 Winter Training, Mark left an indelible mark on the Team’s evolution. Together, we developed the Diamond Half-Cuban 8 Takeoff, a complex maneuver that perfectly showcased the elegance and discipline of our flying. And just as memorably, we brought back the Diamond Landing to our demonstration—something that hadn’t been done in years. That return to tradition and spectacle was driven by Mark’s vision and dedication to excellence.

    But Mark’s impact wasn’t confined to the sky. He was a crowd favorite—not just because of his thrilling flight displays, but because of his genuine warmth and connection to people. At schools, hospitals, community events, and airshows, Mark embodied the spirit of the Blue Angels: humility, service, and inspiration. He never tired of shaking hands, telling stories, answering questions, and reminding every child who looked up at the sky that they could one day be in his flight suit.

    He believed in the power of naval aviation to transform lives—not only his own, but the countless young people he encouraged to dream bigger, work harder, and serve something greater than themselves. Mark’s legacy is one of inspiration, excellence, and deep humanity. He showed us what it means to lead with heart, to serve with honor, and to fly with purpose.
