William Keith Thompson, a lifelong resident of East Liverpool, passed away peacefully at his home on the evening of Monday, June 2, 2025. He was 58 years old.

Born on March 28, 1967, in East Liverpool, Ohio, William—known affectionately as “Keith” to friends and family—was the son of the late Robert “Bob” Thompson and Carol Jean (Miller) Thompson. He grew up surrounded by the strength of family values, the warmth of small-town community life, and a strong sense of integrity that would guide him throughout his days.

Keith graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1985, where he excelled both academically and as a proud member of the school’s wrestling team. After graduation, he pursued a career in industrial maintenance, a field in which he would work diligently for over three decades. Most recently, he was employed by the Hall Chemical Company, where he was respected by his colleagues for his work ethic, reliability, and sharp technical skills.

Outside of work, Keith was a man of many passions. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes, rarely missing a game. A lover of the outdoors, he found peace in fishing along the Ohio River, camping with his family, and taking long drives through the Appalachian hills. He also enjoyed woodworking, a hobby that brought him pride and led to many cherished handcrafted gifts for those he loved.

Keith’s true joy in life, however, came from his family. He was a dedicated husband, a proud father, and a loving grandfather. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 34 years, Cynthia “Cindy” (Reed) Thompson, whom he married on a beautiful spring afternoon in 1991. Together, they built a life rooted in love, mutual respect, and the joy of raising a family.

In addition to his wife, Keith is survived by his two children, Brian Thompson and his wife Megan of Boardman, and Melissa Thompson of East Liverpool. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren—Landon, Ava, and Carter—who were the lights of his life and the frequent subjects of his stories, smiles, and warm embraces.

He is also survived by his siblings: Robert “Bobby” Thompson Jr. of Wellsville, Lisa Carmichael (David) of Lisbon, and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Keith will also be remembered fondly by his extended family and a wide circle of lifelong friends and neighbors who knew him for his kind spirit, quick wit, and generous heart.

Keith was a man of quiet strength, known for always being the first to lend a helping hand and the last to ask for anything in return. His presence in the lives of those who knew him was a steady source of comfort and unwavering support. His memory will be held dearly in the hearts of many and his legacy will live on through the values he instilled in his children and the kindness he showed to all.

Visitation will be held at the Dawson Funeral Home in East Liverpool on Thursday, June 5, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating Keith’s life will take place at the funeral home on Friday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Tom Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Keith’s memory to the American Heart Association or a local youth sports organization, causes close to his heart.

Though Keith has left this world, the impact of his love, laughter, and steadfast nature will never fade. He will be remembered always—as a good man, a loyal friend, and a loving patriarch whose memory will live on in every life he touched.
