In Loving Memory of Mr. Jahawn Horton
August 12, 2003 – June 3, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Jahawn Horton, age 21, of South Bend, Indiana, who tragically departed this life on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. His untimely passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Born on August 12, 2003, Jahawn was a shining light in his community—a young man full of dreams, compassion, and unwavering loyalty to those close to him. Raised in South Bend, he was known for his vibrant smile, his infectious laugh, and his quiet strength. From a young age, Jahawn exhibited a natural charisma and sensitivity that drew people to him. Whether it was offering a listening ear or standing up for a friend, Jahawn lived with heart and purpose.

A proud graduate of Riley High School, Jahawn was passionate about personal growth, family, and using his talents to make a difference. He was a gifted artist, often sketching scenes of everyday life with incredible detail and emotion. His drawings were windows into his soul—reflective, raw, and full of hope. Jahawn had plans to pursue a degree in graphic design and had recently begun building a portfolio in preparation for college admissions.

In addition to his artistic gifts, Jahawn was a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was the kind of person who never turned away someone in need, always generous with his time, his laughter, and his love. He had a special bond with his younger siblings, who looked up to him as both protector and role model. Jahawn often said that his family was his motivation, and everything he did was for their betterment and happiness.

Despite the challenges life presented, Jahawn carried himself with quiet dignity. He dreamed big, spoke kindly, and walked through life with humility. His light-hearted nature, quick wit, and deep empathy left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted mother, Tamika Horton; his father, Marcus Fields; his siblings, Jaliyah, Tyrone, and Malik Horton; his grandparents, Carolyn and James Horton; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory forever.

As the South Bend community mourns this painful loss, friends and loved ones are encouraged to remember Jahawn for the joy he brought into the world, the strength he showed in adversity, and the kindness he so freely gave. Though his time with us was far too brief, Jahawn’s spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.

A candlelight vigil will be held at Coquillard Park in South Bend on Friday, June 6, at 7 p.m., to honor Jahawn’s life and share stories of his remarkable soul. Funeral arrangements will follow and will be announced by the family in the coming days.

Rest in eternal peace, Jahawn. You were loved more than words can express, and your light will never be forgotten.
