Actor Devin Harjes Passes Away at 41

Devin Lee Harjes, a versatile actor celebrated for his compelling performances in both television and film, passed away on May 27, 2025, at the age of 41 due to complications from cancer. Born on July 29, 1983, in Lubbock, Texas, Harjes began his artistic journey in the Dallas–Fort Worth theater scene before moving to New York City to pursue his passion for acting.

Harjes made his television debut in 2011, portraying boxing legend Jack Dempsey in HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.” His nuanced performance garnered attention and led to roles in several notable series, including “Daredevil,” where he played Oscar in Season 1, Episode 3; “Gotham”; “Blue Bloods”; “Orange Is the New Black”; “Elementary”; and “FBI.” From 2020 to 2021, he had a recurring role as Pete Baylor in the Netflix series “Manifest.

In addition to his television work, Harjes appeared in various independent films, such as “Surprise Surprise, Mr. Conovy,” “Rebel in the Rye,” “Boyz of Summer,” and “The Forest Is Red.” His performance in “The Forest Is Red” earned him the Best Actor award at the Tolentino International Film Festival.

Beyond acting, Harjes was passionate about martial arts and fitness. He was also known for his love of animals and the outdoors, often spending time horseback riding and connecting with nature.

Harjes is survived by his parents, Randy and Rosanne Harjes; his sister, Trish Harjes; his former wife, Shiva Shobitha; and his beloved cat, Maude. In lieu of flowers, his family has requested donations be made to TKC Blessings, a charity supporting arts scholarships for children.

Devin Harjes’s dedication to his craft and his ability to bring depth to every role he undertook left a lasting impression on audiences and colleagues alike. His contributions to the arts will be remembered and cherished.
