A mass shooting early Sunday morning in the Mountain View community near Hickory, North Carolina, left one person dead and 11 others injured, according to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office .
The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. at a residence on Walnut Acres Drive, where approximately 100 people were attending a party. Authorities reported that multiple shooters were involved, though the exact number remains undetermined. The motive for the shooting is currently unknown, and no arrests have been made
Of the 12 victims, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Another victim is in critical condition, while the remaining ten sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at a local hospital
Law enforcement agencies, including the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, Hickory Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI, are actively investigating the case. The violence reportedly extended beyond the house into the street, backyard, and neighboring yards
