Born on May 26, 1967, in Wurzburg, Germany, Danny was the beloved son of the late William Bryan “Butch” Sheets and Nancy Anne Noble Sheets. His childhood years were filled with deep family values, a strong work ethic, and a love for his hometown that would remain with him for a lifetime. A proud graduate of Miami Trace High School, Class of 1985, Danny went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Wilmington College in 1989.
Danny devoted his professional life to service and community, spending the past 25 years as a probation officer with Fayette County Adult Probation. Known for his fairness, compassion, and unwavering sense of justice, he touched countless lives and earned the respect of colleagues, friends, and those he guided toward better paths. Outside his official duties, Danny was also a dedicated farmer, finding fulfillment and peace in working the land—a labor of both love and tradition.
A faithful member of the New Holland Church of Christ, Danny drew strength and purpose from his faith. His greatest joy, however, came from time spent with family, especially his treasured grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness and pride.
Danny’s sudden passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, William and Margaret Sheets; and maternal grandparents, Dan and Bernice Noble.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie Lynn McKinney Sheets, whom he married on August 8, 1998; his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Andy Peters of Jamestown, OH; his three adored grandchildren, Kaitlyn Ellsworth, Camry Long, and Paxton Long; his brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Nikki Sheets of New Holland; his sister, Becky Sheets of Washington Court House; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends who will miss him dearly.
Services honoring Danny’s life will be held Friday, August 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland. Burial will follow at New Holland Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Thursday from 6–8 p.m. at the funeral home.
