Leesville Woman Tragically Killed in Vernon Parish Crash

VERNON PARISH, LA – A devastating crash on Tuesday afternoon has claimed the life of a Leesville woman, sending waves of sorrow throughout the community.

According to Louisiana State Police Troop E, the fatal incident occurred on August 5, 2025, around 1:00 p.m. on Eissman Road, just outside of Leesville in Vernon Parish. Authorities confirmed that 54-year-old Regena Moore, a long-time resident of Leesville, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations by state troopers indicate that Moore was driving along Eissman Road when, for reasons still under investigation, her vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed, coming to a stop after a significant impact. Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but despite their efforts, Moore succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed, weather conditions, vehicle malfunction, or a medical emergency may have played a role. Toxicology samples were taken and will be analyzed as part of the ongoing investigation, as is standard procedure in fatal crashes.

State Police issued a statement expressing their condolences:

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Ms. Moore during this incredibly difficult time. We urge all motorists to stay vigilant on the roadways, buckle up, and avoid distractions while driving.”

Moore was known in the Leesville community as a kind-hearted, generous, and devoted woman. Family members describe her as someone who always put others first and was quick to lend a hand or share a kind word. She was a dedicated mother, sister, and friend who touched countless lives through her gentle spirit and unwavering support of those she loved.

Friends and neighbors have already begun to pay tribute on social media, sharing heartfelt messages and fond memories of Regena.

One family friend wrote:

“Regena had a smile that could light up a room and a heart big enough for everyone. Her loss is simply unbearable. She was more than a friend — she was family to so many of us.”

Another added:

“She always made you feel welcome. No matter what was going on, she had time for you. This is a huge loss for Leesville.”

In the wake of this tragedy, community members are rallying together to support the Moore family. A memorial service is currently being planned, and an online fundraiser has been set up to assist with funeral costs and other unexpected expenses.

As Louisiana State Police continue their investigation, they are also using this opportunity to remind the public of the importance of road safety, especially on rural roads where sudden changes in terrain, lighting, or unexpected obstacles can lead to dangerous situations.

This marks another sobering loss on Louisiana roads in 2025, and it underscores the unpredictable nature of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.

The people of Leesville and Vernon Parish mourn alongside the Moore family today, holding them in their thoughts and prayers as they face the days ahead without someone so deeply loved.

Rest in peace, Regena Moore. You will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
