In Loving Memory of Jesse D. Douglas
April 13, 1976 – July 25, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Jesse D. Douglas, age 49, of Liberty, Kentucky, who departed this life on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Jesse’s unexpected passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his hardworking nature, and the simple joys he cherished most in life.
Born on April 13, 1976, in Liberty, Jesse was the beloved son of Alice Chumbley Douglas and the late Ronald Lee Morgan. A lifelong resident of Casey County, Jesse remained close to his roots and community throughout his life. He embodied the values of loyalty, resilience, and dedication, not only in his personal life but also through his work as a lumber stacker at Wolford and Wethington Sawmill, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.
Jesse had a love for life’s simple pleasures. Each year, he eagerly anticipated the county fair and made it a point to attend every night, soaking in the lights, laughter, and local camaraderie. He especially enjoyed the demolition derbies and truck pulls, where the thrill of engines roaring and mud flying brought him endless excitement. These events weren’t just entertainment to Jesse — they were traditions, filled with memories and moments that he deeply treasured.
A true outdoorsman, Jesse found peace and joy in fishing. Whether at a quiet pond or a flowing river, he would spend hours casting a line, appreciating the stillness and beauty of nature. Fishing wasn’t just a pastime — it was a passion that brought him calm and contentment, and allowed him to reconnect with himself and the world around him.
Jesse was more than his hobbies or his job — he was a son, a friend, a neighbor, and a cherished member of the Liberty community. He had a kind heart, a ready smile, and a warmth that made others feel welcomed and comfortable in his presence. He was someone you could count on, whether you needed a helping hand or just someone to share a laugh with.
He is survived by his loving mother, Alice Chumbley Douglas, who was his constant support and guiding light throughout his life. In addition to his father, Ronald Lee Morgan, Jesse was preceded in death by other family members who now welcome him with open arms in eternal rest.
As we remember Jesse, we reflect not only on the sorrow of his passing but also on the gift of his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him — in the scent of fresh-cut wood, the buzz of a truck pull, the ripple of water as a line hits the surface, and the distant cheers of a county fair night.
A celebration of Jesse’s life will be planned by his family in the coming days. In the meantime, we ask for your prayers, your kindness, and your compassion as his loved ones navigate the pain of this great loss.
Rest easy, Jesse. You were truly one of a kind — and you will be deeply missed.
