In Loving Memory of Myra “Joy” Joyce Camp
March 12, 1937 – July 22, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myra “Joy” Joyce Camp, age 88, of Ringgold, Georgia. Surrounded by love and in the comfort of her home, Joy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. Her journey here on earth came to a peaceful end, but her legacy of kindness, grace, and unwavering faith will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
Born on March 12, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Joy was the cherished daughter of the late Charlie and Ollie Young. She was raised in a home filled with warmth, faith, and integrity—values that would go on to shape every aspect of her life. Joy was a proud lifelong resident of the North Georgia region, and her deep roots in the community were matched only by her unshakable devotion to her family and church.
Joy was a faithful member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where she worshipped and served for many years. Her dedication to her church family was evident in her regular presence at services, Sunday school classes, and her enthusiastic participation in church events. Her name suited her perfectly—Joy brought light and laughter into every room, and her compassion extended to all those in need of encouragement or a warm embrace.
Professionally, Joy dedicated over four decades to North Georgia Bank, where she retired after 40 years of exemplary service. She was known not only for her competence and reliability but for the personal connections she formed with her colleagues and customers alike. Joy had an incredible work ethic, and she carried herself with dignity, humility, and a generous heart throughout her career.
Outside of work, Joy’s greatest joy in life was her family—especially her beloved grandchildren. She loved nothing more than spending time with them, whether it was cheering them on at school events, hosting holiday dinners, or sharing stories and wisdom passed down through generations. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, always filled with the comforting aroma of her famous home-cooked meals and the laughter of loved ones gathered around her table. Cooking wasn’t just a chore for Joy—it was an act of love.
In her golden years, she embraced life with an adventurous spirit, participating in senior trips and group travels that brought her to beautiful places and allowed her to form lasting friendships. Her zest for life and sense of wonder never faded.
Joy was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 46 years, Wendell Camp. The two shared a beautiful marriage built on faith, partnership, and mutual respect. They were inseparable in life, and now they are reunited in eternity.
Though Joy has departed from this world, she leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and an example of a life lived with love, faith, and unwavering strength. Her legacy will be carried on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and spirit.
As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the immense blessings she brought to all who knew her. May we continue to honor her memory by living with the same grace, generosity, and joy that defined her every day.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Joy’s life, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Mt. Vernon Baptist Church or a charity of your choice that reflects her loving spirit.
Rest peacefully, sweet Joy. Your light will never fade.
