TRAGIC LOSS: 5-Year-Old Boy Killed in Devastating Car Crash – 23-Year-Old Driver Charged with DUI, Manslaughter, and Reckless Driving
TULSA, OK — A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded on the evening of June 3, 2025, when a five-year-old boy lost his life following a violent two-vehicle crash on North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The collision, which occurred around 7:40 p.m. near the 4600 block, has left a family shattered and a community reeling.
When emergency crews and officers arrived on the scene, they found the aftermath of a head-on crash between a Chevy Malibu and a Chevy Cruze. Inside the Cruze were a mother and her young son, both of whom had sustained significant injuries. The boy, just five years old, was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, he tragically succumbed to his injuries two days later.
After a meticulous investigation conducted by the Gilcrease Division Traffic Unit, it was determined that Cierra Galloway, a 23-year-old woman, was responsible for causing the deadly crash. Authorities say Galloway was speeding in wet road conditions, and her vehicle crossed the center line, crashing head-on into the oncoming Cruze.
Galloway, who was the only occupant in her vehicle, was transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The mother of the child in the other car was also taken to the hospital and is expected to recover physically, though the emotional toll of losing a child is immeasurable.
According to investigators, Galloway was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. She has now been formally charged with DUI, reckless driving, and second-degree manslaughter.
This incident has sparked outrage and sorrow among residents of Tulsa and beyond. Community leaders and child safety advocates have expressed condolences to the grieving family and emphasized the urgent need for responsible driving, especially in inclement weather and when children are present.
“This child had his whole life ahead of him,” one neighbor said, tearfully. “To have that stolen because someone chose to drink and drive — it’s unbearable.”
As the legal process moves forward, many are hoping that justice will be served for the young boy whose life was so senselessly cut short. Vigils and memorials are being planned in his honor, and his name will not be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.
Cierra Galloway remains in custody, and her bond hearing is scheduled for later this week. Prosecutors are expected to pursue the case aggressively, citing the preventable nature of the crash and the devastating consequences of her actions.
This tragic incident serves as a painful reminder of the responsibilities every driver carries behind the wheel — and how a single moment of recklessness can alter countless lives forever.
