Remembering Richard A. “Rich” Rauch

Richard A. “Rich” Rauch, age 86, of Altoona, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning at UPMC Altoona, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Born and raised in Altoona, Rich was the beloved son of the late Alois and Marcella J. (Poeschl) Rauch. From a young age, he embraced the values of hard work, loyalty, and kindness—traits that defined his life and shaped the way he touched others.

On May 27, 1961, Rich married the love of his life, Patricia L. McCoy, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Their marriage of more than six decades was a testament to devotion, mutual respect, and enduring love. Together, they built a family and a home grounded in faith, laughter, and cherished traditions.

Rich was a man of many talents and passions. He took pride in his work, but his greatest joy came from spending time with family—sharing stories, supporting one another, and making memories that will be treasured for generations. He was known for his gentle humor, his steady presence, and his genuine interest in the lives of those around him.

His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring others through his quiet example. Whether it was in moments of joy or times of challenge, Rich’s strength and unwavering belief in God provided comfort and reassurance to family and friends alike.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Rich will remember him as a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, loyal friend, and proud member of the Altoona community. His warmth, integrity, and kindness left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

As his loved ones say goodbye, they take solace in knowing that Rich’s legacy will live on—not only in the stories and memories shared, but in the values and love he instilled in those he leaves behind.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who went before him, and forever held in the hearts of those who remain.
