LACEY TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A tragic motor vehicle incident claimed the life of 47-year-old Alycia Mullin, of Waretown, on the night of Monday, August 11, 2025, after she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing Route 9 near Taylor Lane.
According to the Lacey Township Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:24 p.m. following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. Members of Lacey Township EMS also responded to the scene to provide immediate medical assistance.
Upon arrival, first responders found that a red 2002 Toyota Tundra, driven by Kevin Kazmierski, 61, of Forked River, had been traveling northbound on Route 9 when it struck Mullin. The preliminary investigation indicates that Mullin was crossing Route 9 in the area of Taylor Lane when the Toyota passed through the intersection, resulting in the collision.
Mullin sustained life-threatening injuries and was quickly transported to Community Medical Center. Despite the efforts of emergency personnel and hospital staff, she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities closed the section of Route 9 between Taylor Lane and Lakeside Drive South for several hours while members of the Lacey Township Police Department Fatal Accident Support Team (FAST) conducted a detailed on-scene investigation. The roadway has since been reopened to traffic.
The crash remains under active investigation, led by Ptl. Daniel Primavera #122 of the FAST unit. Investigators are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has additional information to come forward. Tips can be directed to Ptl. Primavera at (609) 693-6636 ext. 2609.
This heartbreaking event serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers pedestrians face on busy roadways, especially during nighttime hours. The Lacey Township community is left mourning the sudden and tragic loss of Alycia Mullin, whose life was cut short far too soon.
