OAK ISLAND, N.C. (WECT) — The Oak Island community is reeling after a fatal accident claimed the life of a pedestrian on Monday morning, August 11.
According to officials with the Town of Oak Island, the incident occurred along East Oak Island Drive, near the area between NE 31st Street and NE 32nd Street. Authorities say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene.
Emergency crews and law enforcement responded swiftly, securing the area and providing aid, but tragically, the victim could not be saved. The identity of the pedestrian has not yet been released pending notification of family members.
