A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, he lived a life defined by humility, steadfast reliability, a deep sense of integrity and righteousness and whose greatest pride was his family.
Bill lived life with passion and purpose. Whether on a golf course, skiing around the world, biking across states, cheering on the New York Giants, building a lifetime legacy in sports, creating countless cherished memories with his grandchildren, or exploring new places on his many vacations, he approached each of these moments with a “live life to the fullest” attitude. He worked hard without seeking recognition, carried himself with integrity, and stood by his family and friends through every season of life.
He was a family man in the truest sense. Known for his loyalty, quiet strength and steady presence, Bill was someone you could always count on. He gave generously and stood by those he cared about through every challenge.
Bill was the ultimate competitor, always striving to be his best, but never at the expense of his kindness or humility. His quiet confidence, disciplined nature and love of friendly competition will be dearly missed but forever cherished by those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his wife/“cell mate”Donna Gelsomino, son Derrick Gelsomino, daughter-in-law Valerie Gelsomino, daughter Amanda Gelsomino, son-in-law Dante Lopardo and beloved grandchildren Capri, Leo and Viana Lopardo, and Niko and Carmen Gelsomino.
A funeral mass to honor and celebrate Bill’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1525 Cranston St., Cranston, RI on Saturday, August 16 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Rhode Island Community Food Bank.
