The accident occurred at approximately 5:20 p.m. on Stewart Road near Mount Lebanon Road, roughly two miles southwest of Meridianville, in Madison County. According to investigators from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division, the young operator was driving a Manco Dingo Go Kart when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a culvert.
The force of the collision was severe, causing the juvenile to be thrown from the Go Kart upon impact. Emergency responders arrived swiftly and transported the injured child to a nearby hospital. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, the juvenile succumbed to critical injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased.
It has been reported that the youth was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, highlighting a critical safety concern.
