HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — What was supposed to be a season of joy and anticipation has instead turned into a time of unimaginable grief for the family of Gloria Guevara. The young mother, who was eagerly preparing to welcome another child after the heartbreak of losing a baby last year, had her life suddenly and tragically cut short in a violent hit-and-run crash on Thursday evening.
The crash happened around 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Tidwell and C.E. King Parkway. According to investigators, Gloria was driving her Ford Mustang when a white truck slammed into her from behind. The impact forced her car over a raised median and into the path of oncoming traffic. In the split second that followed, her Mustang was struck head-on by a Ford F-250 hauling a trailer.
The driver of the white truck — whose reckless actions set off the deadly chain of events — did not stop. Instead, they fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of devastation and a family shattered by loss.
Paramedics and first responders rushed to the crash site, but Gloria could not be saved. Her unborn child also did not survive.
Family members describe Gloria as a vibrant, loving woman whose greatest joy was being a mother. They say she was filled with hope and excitement as she prepared to welcome her new baby, seeing it as a blessing after the pain of losing a child just last year. Her death, they say, feels “cruel, senseless, and unbearable.”
“This isn’t just a crash. It’s a life stolen — two lives, really,” one relative said. “We want justice for Gloria, and we need whoever did this to come forward. They can’t just run away from this.”
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is now urging the public to help identify the white truck and its driver. Investigators believe the vehicle may have front-end damage and are asking anyone with surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the crash to contact them immediately.
As the investigation continues, Gloria’s loved ones are left clinging to memories of her warmth, her laughter, and the love she poured into her family. What was supposed to be the beginning of a new chapter in her life has instead become a devastating reminder of how quickly joy can be stolen by another’s negligence.
