LUBBOCK, Texas — Heartbreak has struck the Lubbock community after a devastating overnight crash claimed two lives and left one person with serious injuries in the early hours of Saturday morning.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, the initial call reporting a collision with injuries came in at approximately 1:09 a.m. on Saturday. When officers arrived on the scene in the 6600 block of Milwaukee Avenue, they discovered a harrowing scene of twisted metal and debris scattered across the roadway.

The driver of one of the vehicles, 28-year-old Ruiz Pardo, was found partially ejected from his car. Emergency responders quickly transported him to University Medical Center, but despite their efforts, he was later pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined that the tragic sequence of events began when 34-year-old Jimmy Janssen was driving north on Milwaukee Avenue at what police described as a high rate of speed. At the same time, Pardo was traveling south in the 6300 block of Milwaukee Avenue, attempting to make a left turn into a convenience store parking lot.

The two passenger vehicles collided violently, the force of the impact sending Pardo’s vehicle into a nearby utility pole. The collision’s intensity also ejected his passenger, 31-year-old Alexandra Ordaz, from the vehicle. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have not released additional details on whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role beyond what has been reported. The Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit continues to investigate, piecing together the exact circumstances that led to the deadly collision.

In the wake of the tragedy, friends and family of Pardo and Ordaz are reeling from the sudden loss. Both victims are being remembered as loved and cherished individuals whose lives were cut short in a moment of unimaginable tragedy. Community members have expressed their grief and concern, with many calling for continued awareness about the dangers of speeding and reckless driving.

As the investigation unfolds, LPD is urging drivers to remain vigilant, follow speed limits, and exercise caution—reminders that are now underscored by the painful loss of two lives on what should have been an ordinary Saturday morning in Lubbock.

If you’d like, I can also prepare a memorial-style tribute for both victims to accompany this news write-up. That could make the piece more personal and heartfelt. Would you like me to do that?
