Tragedy in Madison, IL: 24-Year-Old Father Dies by Suicide After Public Facebook Argument

A devastating tragedy has struck the 800 block of Washington Avenue in Madison, Illinois, where 24-year-old father Lamont Wiley reportedly took his own life following a public and emotionally charged argument on Facebook with the mother of his children.

Screenshots circulating online reveal a lengthy and explosive post by a woman identified as Mee Mee, accusing Lamont of being an absent father, mismanaging money, and depending on government assistance. The post included deeply personal attacks, quickly going viral and drawing heavy attention.

Shortly afterward, Lamont posted what appeared to be his final message, saying:

> “Sorry Makaila & Karson 💔 Daddy Love Yall‼️”

That post has since gained over 2,900 shares and 770+ comments, with thousands expressing shock, grief, and heartbreak.

Lamont’s cousin, Melissa Wiley, publicly commented:

> “Well now they ain’t got no daddy cause this FB sh*t made him kill himself.”

Another user, Niya Marie, clarified Lamont’s financial situation and obligations:

> “Ngl if you get TANF he does pay for that I applied and they was taking it out my BD check.”

In one of his final posts, Lamont defended himself, writing:

> “Mee Mee living off EBT CASH, Section 8, food stamps (that she sell for money)… Steady bashing me when child support people already told me to my face I pay all that government assistance u get. Somebody gotta pay for it. ME.”

Those close to Lamont say he had been under heavy emotional pressure, feeling publicly humiliated despite fulfilling his child support duties. The constant online bashing reportedly took a toll on his mental health, leading to this tragic end.

This incident is sparking serious discussions around mental health, cyberbullying, toxic co-parenting, and the emotional weight young Black men often carry in silence.

The Madison community is now grieving the loss of a 24-year-old father who, despite his struggles, was trying to be present for his children.

Condolences go out to the entire family and friends of Mr.Wiley

A soul free
