But on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, just four days after proudly graduating from high school, Johnny was tragically gunned down in the South Chicago neighborhood, leaving behind a grieving family and a heartbroken community.
At approximately 2:52 p.m., officers from the Chicago Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired near 89th Street and Brandon Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Johnny with a gunshot wound to the back. Despite the best efforts of first responders, Johnny was pronounced dead at the scene. His life, filled with so much promise, was reduced to another devastating statistic in a city tired of mourning its youth.
Johnny’s murder has left his family shattered. A young man full of laughter, ambition, and love was taken in broad daylight, just days after celebrating one of life’s biggest milestones. His cap and gown still hung in his closet, his graduation photos still fresh on his mother’s phone. He had plans—college, a career, and dreams that will now never come to pass. As of now, no suspects are in custody, but Chicago Police have released images of four persons of interest connected to the case.
