Still Missing: The Disappearance of Kevin Charles and Mary Goodfellow

On the night of April 3, 1993, 16-year-old Kevin Charles and his adoptive grandmother, 67-year-old Mary Goodfellow, vanished from their home in Chitek Lake, Saskatchewan. More than three decades later, their whereabouts remain unknown, and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance continue to raise troubling questions.

Kevin was originally from the Little Red River Cree Nation but had been living with Mary, a member of the Pelican Lake First Nation. According to reports, two unidentified individuals came to their home that evening, accusing Kevin of theft. A confrontation followed. Kevin was last seen running across the street, reportedly calling for help. Neither he nor Mary has been seen since.

In the years that followed, the case has remained unsolved. In 2022, a volunteer team searched a well near Leoville, a site identified as a possible burial location. The excavation yielded no human remains or evidence linked to the case, but investigators say the area has been ruled out.

The Saskatchewan RCMP continue to classify the case as active, though no charges have been laid and few public updates have been released. The families of Kevin and Mary have continued to press for answers, and advocates have called for renewed investigative efforts.
