Loving wife and an exceptional human being. Kaye’s courageous battle with dementia and aftermath of a stroke, came to an end on Friday August 1, 2025. She was 71 years old.

Kaye was a devoted mother to her three children Jason, Mackenzie and Josh. A doting Noni to her grand babies Cameron, Nolan and Hadley. She spent the last 20 years with the love of her life, James “Jimi” Collins. Together they loved, laughed and were happier than they’d ever been. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. Kaye loved baseball and football and boy did she love good food!

Kaye was born and raised in Mount Airy, NC on January 20, 1954, to Marjorie Ruth Hutchens and Harold Hutchens. She graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1972 where she played the clarinet in the Marching Band and was an integral part of their theater department. She made friends everywhere she went. People were drawn to her by her beauty, warmth and genuine nature. After high school she attended Surry Community College.

Kaye was preceded in death by her infant daughter Jennifer Dawn and her parents Ruth and Harold Hutchens. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband and her 3 children and 3 grandchildren with one on the way. She also leaves behind to grieve her loss many extended family members and friends.

Kaye was a Sales Ad Executive for Time Warner Cable Adcast for many years where she excelled in customer service and earned many accolades for excellence. She was loved by her colleagues and customers. Also, she was lovingly nick named as the “tater lady” by her colleagues for her love of potatoes. “She could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady in white gloves.”

Being a mom was what she loved most about her time here on earth. She was mother and father to her children and no one could have done it better than she did. She loved dancing and singing to her favorite music and ended just about every meal with some kind of chocolate!

She was generous, resilient, honest and hilarious. She had an unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The only comfort we take is knowing she is in his arms and free of pain.

The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude to the nurses at Pruitt Heath Care in Elkin for the love and compassionate care given to Kaye in her final years.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens in Mount Airy for family and close friends
