The Avoca Hose Company Extends Heartfelt Condolences to the Curtis Family
The Avoca Hose Company sends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Daniel and Julie Curtis on the unimaginable and tragic loss of their beloved son, Adam. In times like these, words feel woefully inadequate in capturing the sorrow and heartbreak that come with such a loss. Please know that the entire Avoca Hose Company stands beside you in grief, in memory, and in unwavering support.
Daniel Curtis is more than just an OSHA instructor to our department. He has long been a trusted mentor, an exceptional leader, and a true friend to many of us. Through his tireless work in the field of occupational safety, particularly within the firefighting and first responder communities, Daniel has become a cornerstone of our culture of safety and preparedness. His passion for protecting those who protect others has saved lives and prevented injuries — a legacy of care and commitment that will echo for generations.
His influence is not only measured in the classes he taught or the certifications he issued, but in the lives he touched — and the respect he earned across every firehouse, training ground, and emergency scene he’s ever visited. When Daniel speaks, people listen — not out of obligation, but out of admiration for a man who practices what he preaches, who never takes shortcuts, and who always puts people first. He’s been there for all of us when it mattered most — through triumphs and tragedies alike.
Now, in this moment of profound personal grief, it is our turn to be there for him.
Adam’s passing is a devastating loss not just for the Curtis family, but for everyone whose lives they’ve touched. Though many of us didn’t have the chance to know Adam personally, we know the love, strength, and values he was raised with — and we grieve the promise of a life cut far too short. To lose a child is an unfathomable pain, and while no words can ever truly ease that burden, we hope Daniel and Julie can feel the love and support that surrounds them from their fire service family.
We also recognize Julie’s strength and compassion as part of a family that has always given so much of themselves to others. In their time of need, we are committed to giving back — with open hearts, listening ears, and whatever help they may require.
The Avoca Hose Company is more than a fire department — we are a brotherhood and sisterhood built on duty, service, and solidarity. We mourn as a family, we rally as a family, and we heal as a family.
To Daniel, Julie, and all who are grieving Adam’s loss, please know: You are not alone. Your pain is felt by all of us, and your son’s memory will be carried with us in our thoughts and in our actions. We will honor him by standing together — with compassion, with strength, and with the deep bonds that unite us all.
With all our love and sympathy,
The Members of Avoca Hose Company
