It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Katherine E. Perry, lovingly known to many as Kathy, of Louisa, Kentucky. Kathy departed this life on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at The OSU James Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio, after a courageous battle with illness. She was 63 years old.

Kathy was born on January 9, 1962, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Robert and Bessie Barr, both of whom she held dearly in her heart throughout her life. Raised in a home rooted in strong values and love, Kathy learned early on the importance of faith, perseverance, and compassion—traits she carried with her through every chapter of her journey.

Professionally, Kathy was a hardworking and loyal employee of Cross Country Mortgage in Columbus, Ohio. Her colleagues remember her as a woman of integrity, warmth, and reliability. She was more than just a coworker—she was a mentor, a friend, and often the comforting presence that kept others grounded in stressful moments. Her professionalism was matched by her sense of humor and ability to make anyone feel seen and valued.

Beyond her work, Kathy lived a life centered around love—love for her family, her friends, and her community. She was a woman of immense strength, gentle kindness, and fierce devotion. To know Kathy was to be embraced by her spirit of generosity and thoughtfulness. Whether it was a warm hug, a kind word, or a handwritten note, she had a way of touching hearts in simple, profound ways.

Kathy found joy in the little things—spending a quiet morning with a cup of coffee, watching the seasons change, sharing stories with loved ones, or baking something sweet for a family gathering. She was a passionate supporter of her grandchildren’s activities, always cheering them on from the sidelines or applauding their academic achievements. Her pride in her family was evident in every conversation, every photo frame on her walls, and every story she lovingly retold.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by several beloved family members, including cherished siblings and dear friends whose memories she held close. Though they are gone from this world, we find comfort in knowing that Kathy is now reunited with them in eternal peace.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by those who will miss her deeply:
Her beloved children, who were the light of her life and a source of constant pride;
Her grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure;
Her siblings, nieces, nephews, and a host of extended family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Kathy’s life was a testament to quiet strength and enduring love. She touched countless lives with her unshakable faith, her boundless kindness, and her unwavering belief in the goodness of people. As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart that loved without limit.

A celebration of life service will be held in the coming days, with details to be shared once arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Kathy’s memory—especially causes that support cancer research, children’s welfare, or women’s heart health, which were all close to her heart.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that Kathy’s soul rests in the loving embrace of the Lord. Her love remains etched in the lives she touched, and her legacy will continue through the stories we share, the values we uphold, and the love we pass forward.

Rest peacefully, Kathy. Your light shines on in all of us.
