Mary Kathryn Wolfinger, 88, of Oregon, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Born May 12, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, Mary was the cherished daughter of Clarence and Nellie Young. In 1955, Mary graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1955, forming lifelong friendships and began a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to others.
Mary made her home in the Shoreland neighborhood for many years, where she and her first husband, Joseph William Wolfinger, lovingly raised six children. Following Joe’s passing Mary met Bob Hancock and found they had many things in common from their younger years. They married December 3, 2005 and made their home in Oregon, Ohio. Bob and Mary spent winters in Florida actively enjoying the many activities in their winter communities. Mary had a passion for travel and adventure. She enjoyed a memorable trip to Europe with friends, cruise vacations, and many fun-filled visits to Las Vegas; embracing new experiences with enthusiasm and joy
A devoted mother and homemaker, Mary dedicated many years to raising her children before beginning career in real estate in 1982. Over the next four decades, she worked with several local firms, helping countless families find their homes. She especially enjoyed working with first-time buyers, guiding them through each step with patience, care, and enthusiasm. Mary retired in 2022 from Danberry Realtors, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, compassion, and dedication.
A lifelong Catholic, Mary was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she actively participated in the Altar Rosary Society. She also served as a Boy Scout Den Mother, a lunchroom monitor, and was deeply involved in her children’s lives and community. Mary was known for her warm heart, sharp wit, and generous spirit.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband of 20 years, Bob Hancock; beloved children, the “six K’s” — Karen Miller, Kris Gittleman, Kathy Wolfinger (Mike), Ken (Sue) Wolfinger, Kevin (Pam) Wolfinger, and Kerrie Hardman (Fred); Bob’s children, Micheal (Bonnie) Hancock, Diana (Craig) Raider, Keith (Shelly) Hancock, and Debra (Aaron) Eicher; many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 40 years, Joseph William Wolfinger; and siblings, Sharon Young, Juanita Young, Emmalouise Sneyd, Joseph Young and Jim Young.
The family will receive friends at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Road, Oregon, Ohio, Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
