In Loving Memory of Brian John Rzeppa
February 17, 1962 – July 28, 2025
With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brian John Rzeppa, age 63, of St. Clair, Michigan, who passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, after a courageous and unrelenting battle with cancer. Brian was surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his home in his final moments—just as he would have wanted.
Born on February 17, 1962, in Port Huron, Michigan, Brian was the beloved son of Marsha Polk (Hill) and the late Gerald Rzeppa. He spent his formative years in Port Huron and graduated from Stevenson High School in 1980. Known for his sharp intellect, infectious laughter, and strong work ethic, Brian’s roots were planted deep in the communities he called home.
Brian was a man of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. A man who believed in showing up for others, he lived a life marked not by flashy achievements, but by kindness, integrity, and the example he set through his actions. Whether it was a friend in need, a stranger down on their luck, or a family member facing a hardship, Brian was always the first to step forward and offer help.
Professionally, Brian carved out a successful career rooted in reliability and humility. Though he rarely sought accolades or attention, his colleagues and peers remember him as a dependable and fair-minded man—someone who led not through force, but by example. Over the years, Brian became a mentor to many, known for his patience and his uncanny ability to make others feel heard and valued.
Family was everything to Brian. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. His love for his family was both fierce and tender. Whether it was coaching little league games, attending school plays, or helping with homework at the kitchen table, he was always present. His proudest titles were “Dad” and “Papa.” His children and grandchildren were his world, and he beamed with pride at their every accomplishment, big or small.
Brian had a passion for the simple joys in life: early morning fishing trips, working on classic cars, playing guitar, sharing stories around the campfire, and rooting for the Detroit Lions (with enduring optimism, despite the odds). He had a dry wit and a wonderful sense of humor that brought laughter into the lives of all who knew him.
Even in his final months, Brian’s courage and resilience inspired all who walked with him through his illness. He faced each challenge with grace, never allowing the disease to steal his spirit or define his life. Instead, he continued to focus on what mattered most—his faith, his family, and making the most of each day.
Brian is survived by his beloved mother Marsha Polk (Hill); his devoted wife of over 40 years, Karen Rzeppa (née Thompson); his loving children, Michael Rzeppa (Lauren), Jessica Rzeppa, and Daniel Rzeppa; his treasured grandchildren, Lucas, Emily, and Jude; and his siblings, Steven Rzeppa (Ann) and Lisa Warner (Mark). He also leaves behind a host of extended family, close friends, and cherished neighbors who will miss his presence deeply.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Rzeppa, and other dearly loved relatives who have welcomed him into eternal peace.
A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Clair, Michigan. Visitation hours will take place on [Date and Time], followed by a funeral Mass on [Date and Time], with interment to follow at [Cemetery Name].
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Brian’s memory to the American Cancer Society or to Blue Water Hospice, whose incredible care provided Brian with dignity and peace in his final days.
Though Brian’s journey on this earth has ended, his legacy lives on through the lives he touched with his compassion, strength, and love. He will be missed more than words can ever express—but never forgotten.
“He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
