In Loving Memory of Antonia “Toni” M. (Enea) Mocharski
March 25, 1930 – July 25, 2025
South Plainfield, NJ – It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that the family of Antonia “Toni” M. (Enea) Mocharski announces her peaceful passing in the early morning hours of Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 95. Toni passed away surrounded by love and family at her daughter’s home in Georgia, where she spent her final days in comfort and care.
Born on March 25, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, Toni was the beloved daughter of Italian immigrants who instilled in her a strong work ethic, deep faith, and a passion for family values that she would carry with her throughout her life. She spent her early years growing up in Newark, where she built lasting memories with her siblings, developed a love for community, and began shaping the warm, selfless character for which she would always be remembered.
In 1960, Toni moved with her husband and young family to South Plainfield, New Jersey, where she would reside for the majority of her life. It was there that she truly flourished, raising her children in a home filled with kindness, discipline, laughter, and enduring love. A dedicated homemaker for most of her life, Toni found her greatest joy in caring for her family. Her kitchen was the heart of her home—always filled with the comforting aromas of homemade Italian cooking, the laughter of visiting neighbors and family, and her tireless hospitality. Her lasagna and meatballs were legendary, but it was the way she made everyone feel welcome that people will remember most.
Toni’s devotion extended beyond her family and into her community. She proudly served as a leader for the Girl Scouts of America, where she volunteered for many years. In this role, she not only mentored her own daughters but also guided and inspired countless other young girls in South Plainfield, teaching them the values of courage, confidence, service, and compassion. Toni’s leadership left an indelible mark on those she served—many of whom continued to stay in touch with her decades later, crediting her with helping to shape their futures.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devout Catholic, Toni was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield, where she attended Mass faithfully and contributed to numerous parish activities. Her rosary was never far from her hands, and her faith sustained her through both life’s joys and its challenges.
Though her life was not without loss and hardship, Toni always met adversity with strength, grace, and quiet determination. She was a woman of resilience, whose wisdom and compassion provided strength to others even in her own times of need. Her ability to offer gentle advice, lend a listening ear, and wrap those she loved in warmth and encouragement will never be forgotten.
In her later years, Toni enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately knew her as “Nana.” Her eyes would light up at the sound of their laughter, and her stories of “the old days” became treasured moments of connection between generations. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an endless capacity to love.
Toni is predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph Mocharski, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion and partnership, as well as by her parents and several cherished siblings. She is survived by her loving children, including her daughter with whom she spent her final months in Georgia. She also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry her legacy forward with pride and love.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and hospice team in Georgia for the compassion and dignity they provided in Toni’s final days. Their support allowed her to pass peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, just as she would have wanted.
A funeral Mass will be held in New Jersey, with burial to follow at her final resting place beside her late husband. Details will be announced to family and friends in the coming days.
As we say goodbye to Toni, we honor a life that was rich in love, service, and grace. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit—gentle, generous, and deeply rooted in love—will continue to live on in every meal prepared with care, every child mentored with patience, and every act of kindness shared without expectation.
Rest in eternal peace, Toni. You were the heart of your family and the light of your community. Your legacy will never fade.
