We are deeply saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the recent passing of our dear colleague and friend, Sally Allen, a cherished and irreplaceable member of our Carew team. Sally’s unexpected departure has left a profound void in our workplace and in our hearts. It is nearly impossible to put into words the loss we feel, as Sally was not just a team member—she was family to us.
From the moment Sally joined the Carew team, she radiated warmth, kindness, and a tireless work ethic that inspired everyone around her. Her dedication to her role was unmatched. She took immense pride in everything she did, no matter how big or small the task. Whether it was ensuring every detail was just right for the day ahead or taking extra time to chat with a customer, Sally gave her heart and soul to her work. She loved being part of Carew and it showed in every smile she shared and every moment she spent with us.
What made Sally so special was the deep care and connection she had with everyone she met. Her customers weren’t just patrons—they were people she genuinely looked forward to seeing. She knew many of them by name, remembered their stories, and celebrated their joys right alongside them. If she missed seeing a familiar face during a shift, it bothered her deeply—not out of obligation, but out of genuine affection. That was just the kind of person Sally was—someone who loved wholeheartedly, who cared endlessly, and who gave of herself without reservation.
Sally wasn’t only admired for her professionalism; she was truly loved for who she was outside of the job. She had a way of bringing people together—always encouraging the team to gather for a drink or a meal at The Quay Cresselly, where laughter and good conversation flowed easily in her presence. Those casual evenings, filled with stories, jokes, and camaraderie, were just as important to her as the busiest days at work. She valued connection, and she was the heart of many of those shared memories.
Many of us lovingly referred to her as “our Saturday girl,” but she was so much more than that title could ever imply. There was a warmth and a reliability to her that we came to count on—not just on Saturdays, but every day she was with us. She was the steady, familiar presence who made hard days easier and good days even better. We used to joke that Sally would be our Saturday girl forever—and in our hearts, she always will be.
As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also want to remember and celebrate the joy Sally brought into our lives. We will remember her bright smile, her compassionate heart, her fierce loyalty, and her unforgettable laugh. We will remember the way she made each of us feel seen and appreciated. Her spirit will remain a part of the Carew team in every way—as we continue our work, as we gather at The Quay, and as we carry forward her example of kindness, commitment, and love.
