With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, the family of Ramona Jane Schleigh, age 96, of Hagerstown, Maryland, announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, Ramona left behind a legacy of grace, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Ramona was born on October 29, 1928, in Hagerstown, MD, to the late William and Beatrice (Stevens) Bostetter. She was raised in a loving home and carried the values instilled in her—faith, family, and resilience—throughout every chapter of her life. A proud lifelong resident of Washington County, she witnessed nearly a century of change, always meeting each era with a quiet wisdom and enduring spirit.

Ramona attended Hagerstown schools and was known in her youth for her joyful nature and warm smile. As a young woman, she worked diligently while balancing the many responsibilities of home and family. She married the love of her life, and together they built a nurturing home filled with laughter, lessons, and love. Her devotion to her family knew no bounds. She was the kind of mother who showed up with homemade meals, the grandmother whose lap was always open, and the friend who always had time to listen.

Throughout her life, Ramona remained an active and engaged member of her community and her church. She was a longtime member of the Church of the Brethren, where she served faithfully in various ministries over the years. Her steadfast faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and offering comfort to those who knew her.

Ramona had a quiet but profound impact on all who knew her. Whether it was through her gentle encouragement, her thoughtful handwritten notes, or her steady presence during life’s storms, she reminded others of the beauty of kindness and the power of love. She had a gift for making people feel valued, seen, and cared for.

In her later years, Ramona found great joy in watching her family grow. She took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in their accomplishments and showering them with stories, cookies, and unconditional love. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading scripture, and spending time outdoors, finding beauty in even the smallest of blessings.

Ramona’s life was a quiet triumph—lived in service, rooted in faith, and marked by compassion. She leaves behind a legacy that will echo for generations in the lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, William and Beatrice Bostetter, as well as her husband and several cherished family members who went before her.

Ramona is survived by her devoted children, loving grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren who will carry her memory with them always. She also leaves behind many extended family members, close friends, and caregivers who were touched by her gentle spirit.

A celebration of Ramona’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and give thanks for the many blessings her life bestowed.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community for the kindness, care, and companionship they gave Ramona during her final years.

In honoring her memory, the family encourages acts of kindness and compassion in Ramona’s name. Donations may be made to her church or to a local charity close to your heart.

Rest in peace, Ramona Jane Schleigh. Your life was a gift, and your love lives on in all of us.
