Chattanooga Police say they have now arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy on Sunday

Chattanooga Police have arrested a second suspect in the shooting death of a 15-year-old boy early Sunday morning on Read Avenue. Eighteen-year-old Mauricio Velasquez was taken into custody on Monday and charged with second-degree murder. He is currently being held at the Catoosa County Jail and will be extradited to the Hamilton County Jail at a later date

This arrest follows the earlier detention of 18-year-old Malik Allen, who was charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and reckless endangerment. According to a police affidavit, Allen admitted to firing at least twice during the incident. A witness reported seeing Allen and two other individuals open fire from a gray sedan. The victim was found deceased in the street, and shell casings were located near the suspect vehicle
