In Loving Memory of Marijana Simicevic-Sonnie
October 27, 1970 – July 16, 2025

With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Marijana Simicevic-Sonnie, lovingly known as Mary, on July 16th, 2025, at the age of 54. A radiant spirit, Mary embodied warmth, laughter, and light. She was the kind of person who could walk into a room and instantly brighten it—her magnetic personality, infectious smile, and boundless energy left an unforgettable mark on everyone she encountered.

Born into a proud Croatian family, Mary carried her heritage with grace and strength, weaving it into every part of her life. She took immense pride in her roots, and her identity was shaped by the values of resilience, loyalty, and unity that her family instilled in her. She was the daughter of Stefica Simicevic and the late Bude Simicevic, whose love and guidance shaped the passionate and powerful woman she became.

Mary’s life was one of profound meaning, driven by love and service to others. She was a devoted mother to her two sons, Colin and Roman Sonnie, who were the very core of her being. Everything Mary did was done with them in mind—from the everyday acts of care to the bigger sacrifices that only a mother’s heart can know. Her boys were not just her children; they were her purpose, her pride, and her greatest joy.

A sister like no other, Mary shared a deep bond with Ivana Krapic (Marin) and Marin Simicevic (Michelle). Their sibling connection was forged not only by blood but by a lifetime of memories, laughter, shared dreams, and the unwavering support that only siblings can offer. She was a beloved aunt to Samantha and Evan Simicevic, and she embraced her role with open arms, endless enthusiasm, and deep affection. Mary was also a godmother to many—honored and entrusted to walk beside others in love and faith.

Mary held her extended family close. She was a beloved niece to her many aunts and uncles, and a cousin whose presence added warmth and fun to every gathering. Every relationship mattered to her. No one who knew Mary felt like just a friend or a relative—she made each person feel important, seen, and deeply cared for.

To her friends, Mary was a confidante, a cheerleader, and a light in the darkest of times. She was the life of every celebration, the first to crack a joke, the last to leave a party, and the one whose presence turned ordinary days into cherished memories. Her humor, beauty, and charisma were only surpassed by her kindness and compassion. She gave selflessly and loved endlessly.

Mary’s spirit was both fiery and tender. She was high-spirited, with a stubborn streak that was as charming as it was tenacious. That fierce determination shaped her life and inspired those around her to keep going, even when things got tough. She taught us the power of perseverance wrapped in grace.

Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her laughter continues to echo in our hearts. Her voice, her smile, her jokes—they linger in our memories like a favorite song that plays unexpectedly, bringing comfort, joy, and sometimes tears.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, generosity, and light. The depth of her impact cannot be measured in words, but it lives on in every life she touched—her sons, her family, her friends, and the many whose hearts she graced during her journey on Earth.

As we grieve, we also give thanks—for having had the privilege to know, love, and be loved by Mary. Her light remains, not just in memory, but in how we treat each other, love our families, and greet life with a smile, just as she always did.

Rest in peace, dear Mary. Your spirit lives on in every laugh, every kind act, and every memory shared. You are deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten
