With deep sorrow and aching hearts, the community of Calhoun mourns the passing of Evy Elizabeth Thompson, a radiant and beloved 15-year-old whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering faith. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Evy went home to be with Jesus, surrounded by her devoted family and held in the arms of prayer from a community that cherished her deeply.

Born with a gentle soul and a fierce spirit, Evy was a shining light in the lives of everyone she met. Her laughter was contagious, her smile warm and sincere, and her heart always open. She had a rare gift for lifting others even on her most challenging days—a strength that continues to inspire those who knew her. Though her time on Earth was far too short, the impact she made will echo for generations.

A rising sophomore at McLean County High School, Evy was known not only for her academic dedication but also for her compassion and integrity. Whether it was helping a classmate, leading a prayer at youth group, or comforting a friend, she lived her faith boldly and humbly. She loved reading scripture, writing encouraging notes to others, and volunteering at her church, where she was an active member of the youth ministry. Her love for Jesus was beautifully evident in the way she treated others—with grace, empathy, and joy.

Evy was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a treasured granddaughter, and a loyal friend. Her parents, who were her greatest advocates and biggest fans, raised her with deep roots in faith and resilience. Her siblings adored her, and their bond was one of laughter, honesty, and unbreakable love. Her grandparents and extended family were immensely proud of the young woman she had become—a beacon of hope and light in their lives.

Outside of school and church, Evy had a passion for music, art, and nature. She found beauty in the smallest things—a blooming flower, a handwritten letter, a quiet moment of reflection. Her artwork often reflected her emotions, her love for God, and her dreams for the future. Her room was filled with scripture verses, sketches, and photographs of family, friends, and mission trips she had longed to go on. She dreamed of one day becoming a pediatric nurse, hoping to help children just like her—offering not just medical care, but compassion, encouragement, and the light of Christ.

Evy’s passing has left a hole in the heart of Calhoun. The grief is immense, not just because she is gone, but because of how deeply she was loved. In the halls of her school, at her church pew, along the streets of her neighborhood—her absence is felt like a shadow. Yet, in the midst of sorrow, there is also thanksgiving—for having known her, for the memories she gave us, and for the faith she instilled in others.

As her family grieves, they are comforted by the outpouring of support from friends, neighbors, teachers, and fellow believers. Vigils, tributes, and stories shared across social media have painted a vivid picture of the remarkable girl Evy was and will always be. Her legacy is one of love without condition, strength without pride, and faith without fear.

A celebration of Evy’s life will be held at her home church in Calhoun, where the sanctuary will no doubt overflow with all those whose lives she touched. Friends and classmates are invited to wear Evy’s favorite colors—lavender and sky blue—in honor of the joy she brought to the world. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a local children’s hospital or church youth ministry in Evy’s name.

Though our hearts are heavy and the tears come easily, we take comfort in knowing that Evy is now in the arms of Jesus, healed, whole, and surrounded by eternal light. Her life, though brief, was filled with purpose, love, and grace. She has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.

Rest in perfect peace, Evy Elizabeth Thompson. Your light will never dim. You will live on in every act of kindness, every worship song sung in your memory, and every soul inspired by your remarkable life.
